Scorpio Weekly Horoscope

No doubt all that Saturn action in your 12th house has brought up some intense and ancient fears or hidden agendas that need clearing. The Full Moon Monday night connects with Saturn in this same area and lights up what you couldn’t see before. Have Faith in your Self and in your ability to clear away those cobwebs, because once you do you’ll be more prepared than ever to go forward with your goals in a newer better way. You’ve made many adjustments in the past few weeks and now Venus and Mercury move into your opposite sign, Taurus, and your relationship sector comes to life. You thought it was activated before, but that was more about realignment than relationship. Now that you’ve shifted on the inside it’s time to see what those changes look like.

And that is exactly what relationships are for.

American alligator

An American alligator suns in the shallow, tannin-rich waters of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia. An adult alligator can reach 8-12 feet in length and weigh 400 to 500 pounds. The primitive reptile was nearly hunted to extinction for sport and for its leathery hide, which is used for shoes and purses. Established in 1937, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge protects the waters, wilderness and wildlife of the 438,000 acre Okefenokee Swamp. The red hue of the water which when reflective looks like black coffee, is caused by the acid released from decaying vegetation.

Dogon mask dance

Dogon mask dance

These dances are performed at several times during the year, and serve to celebrate the start of the rainy seasons to bring about abundant rainfall, at the end of the harvest seasons to ensure plentiful crops, and also as funerary rituals to commemorate the dead. The dances involve dozens of dancers representing figures from the animal world, male and female powers, and the after-world, while the masks represent spirits, women, midwives, witchdoctors, snakes, antelopes and other various representations.

The Dogon are an ethnic group living in the central plateau region of Mali, south of the Niger bend near the city of Bandiagara in the Mopti region. They are best known for their mythology, their mask dances, wooden sculpture and their architecture.

Scorpio Weekly Horoscope

There’s a great inner transformation just up ahead, and no doubt you’re already feeling its presence. The Aries planets occupying your house of self-adjustment this week are opposing Saturn in your house of hidden agendas, asking you to face your innermost fears once and for all and make the necessary shifts to move through them and be liberated. It’s actually a change of heart you’re having, and while you know this intellectually by now, it’s the actual ‘doing’ of it that’s been so difficult for you in recent months. With Mars’s retracing of his retrograde steps for the next few weeks, you should find yourself much more willing and able to get to where you truly want to be. Aside from that, the Sun squares your other ruler, Pluto on Thursday, providing just the boost you need to make it all happen.

Let go.

Monday, March 15, 2010

Aries weekly horoscope

The huge inner realignment you’ve been experiencing continues this week, as Mercury takes over for Venus, opposing Saturn on your relationship axis, squaring Pluto on your Midheaven, and bringing you understanding about what your recent actions have produced. Mars’s retrograde cycle wasn’t easy on you, and actions, which are Mars’ domain, speak much louder than words. Your words have been powerfully missing for a while, but they return this week when some very important connections are reestablished. Monday’s New Moon occurs in your 12th house, where hidden agendas and sabotage mechanisms are stored. Pay attention to what you think and say this week, and you just might find the delete button for one of your core issues. The next two weeks are all about clearing your decks to make room for future success.

It’s time to get clear about what serves and what doesn’t.

Scorpio Weekly Horoscope

One of your rulers, Mars, has just gone direct on your Midheaven, and by now you should be feeling some relief after being unable to get on with certain goals you had set for yourself last year. The Pisces New Moon on Monday occurs in your creative sector, which should help enormously to expand your energies and dissolve any barriers that are still holding you back from your dreams. Mercury and Uranus come together as a part of the New Moon event, which will provide some extraordinary new ideas for you to travel toward in your efforts to find more enjoyment and satisfaction in your life. There’s nothing like a little freedom of movement to get you past old blocks and limiting beliefs. Mercury moves into your house of self-adjustment next weekend and joins Venus in her critical T-square.

Ask for what you want.

Scorpio Weekly Horoscope

n so many ways, this is the week you’ve been waiting for, struggling toward, manifesting out of your heart of hearts. Mars stations direct on your Midheaven, making at least one life goal fully viable at last. Do yourself a favor and bring all the goals you want to address front and center right away, so that everything gets addressed. A creative project, or a romance, requires new, less rigid parameters to be valuable to you, and there are adjustments that must be made on your part to help that happen. None of this is new to you, and most of it is pretty old by now. Just step up and into that newer version of you that you’ve known for some time now is essential to your happiness. You’re releasing yourself from bondages of the past.

It’s time to get on with it.

Tana Glacier

As summer sun melts ice atop the Tana Glacier, rivulets disappear into surface holes. In time trickle becomes torrent, and a hole widens to a moulin, a gaping cave that plunges into the bowels of the ice—likely more than a thousand feet [305 meters] in this case.

From her series Serial No. 3817131

At an age when social, sexual, and educational explorations are at their highest point, the life of an eighteen-year-old Israeli girl is interrupted. She is plucked from her home surroundings and placed in a rigorous institution where her individuality is temporarily forced aside in the name of nationalism. During the next two years, immersed in a regimented and masculine environment, she will be transformed from a girl to a woman, within the framework of an army that is engaged in daily war and conflict. She is now a soldier serving her country, in a military camp amidst hundreds like her, yet beneath the uniform there is someone wishing to be noticed, listened to, and understood.

Boneyard

The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), also known as the Boneyard, is a four square mile site in Arizona housing 4,000 retired aircraft—or at least one of almost every US armed forces plane since WWII.

Google Earth has recently released this gorgeous (in a maudlin sort of way), 1.5MB satellite view of the facility. You can see the entire shot over on the BBC, and if you’re annoyed by their tiny frame, just right click the magnified version to “view image” to see the entire thing. You can also just check it out through Google.

For those of you thinking the Boneyard is a rotting pile of our tax dollars, well, it sort of is. But the base claims that for every $1 invested here, $11 are returned through salvaged parts (and it’s easier than dropping off a rusting B52 at the local recycling facility).

From the train of death to the wall of shame.

From the essay From the train of death to the wall of shame.

Much has been made of the perils undocumented workers face crossing the southern border of the United States in search of work and a better life. For Central Americans, the U.S. border marks the end of one of the longest, most treacherous migrations on the planet. Still there has been a rise of 50 percent of undocumented Central Americans from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras living in the U.S. since 2000.

Here Guatemalan porters smuggle goods across the Rio Suchiate which forms the porous border between Guatemala and Mexico. Talisman, Mexico

Scorpio Weekly Horoscope

A deep, deep inner transformation has taken place within you, and lately it’s been making itself known to you in ways make you more comfortable than you’ve been in quite a while. Mars is slowing to a halt right at the top of your chart, revealing a new beginning for your career path or your life’s mission. Are you getting excited yet? Most of the transition you’re going through is way down in your core, and it’s been hard to tell just what’s going on a lot of the time. But right now it’s getting clearer and clearer that it’s all been for the better. Venus connects with Uranus in your creative sector and moves into your house of work and service at the end of the week.

A great wave of love and adventure says you’re ready to serve up all you’ve got.
