Last Saturday’s eclipse occurred conjunct your ruler, Pluto, helping your beliefs to manifest much more quickly now. The eclipse happened in your communication sector, and this week the Sun and Mercury come together to add much-needed understanding to the already very potent circumstances that have begun manifesting your future. You can feel the changes afoot, can you trust that all is well? It’s as though a giant wave has come for you and if you ride it fearlessly it will deliver you to a brand new shore. That new shore will offer a new horizon too. Your ‘other’ ruler, Mars gets into the act too, when he is aspected by the Great Messenger Mercury and a new support system is born out of the efforts of important friends and colleagues.
This is the momentum you’ve been waiting for. Watch out for the resistance factor.

GASLAND
The largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history has swept across the United States. The Halliburton-developed drilling technology of "fracking" or hydraulic fracturing has unlocked a "Saudia Arabia of natural gas" just beneath us. But is fracking safe? When filmmaker Josh Fox is asked to lease his land for drilling, he embarks on a cross-country odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination. A recently drilled nearby Pennsylvania town reports that residents are able to light their drinking water on fire. This is just one of the many absurd and astonishing revelations of a new country called GASLAND. Part verite travelogue, part expose, part mystery, part bluegrass banjo meltdown, part showdown."
GASLAND will be broadcast on HBO through 2012. To host a public screening in your community please click here. The DVD will be on sale in December 2010.

Rape-axe
A South African doctor has developed a new female condom that she hopes will combat rape in the most painful way possible.
Dr. Sonnet Ehlers has invented Rape-axe, a female device with jagged hooks that latch onto a man's penis during penetration.
The doctor is distributing 30,000 of these condoms in South Africa during this year's World Cup.
"It hurts," Ehlers told CNN. "He cannot pee and walk when it's on. If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter."
South Africa has one of the highest rape rates in the world, according to Human Rights Watch. It is also believed that 16 percent of the population is living with HIV.
Rape-axe is inserted like a tampon and when embedded to a man the device can only be removed by a doctor.
Some have accused Ehler of creating nothing more than a new-age chastity belt.
"It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma," said Victoria Kajja, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Uganda.
But Ehlers said that she had taken the proper research and development steps before launching the product.
"I consulted engineers, gynecologists and psychologists to help in the design and make sure it was safe," she said.
Ehlers also pointed out how women take extreme measures such as placing razor blades in their nether regions to prevent rape in South Africa.
"I believe something's got to be done," she said. "This will make some men rethink before they assault a woman

New energies around your workplace and the services you provide are stirring you up in ways you may not have expected to encounter, but if you’re willing to trust in the overall integrity of the universal plan and ride this new wave for all its worth, you’ll find that the Saturday’s lunar eclipse produces major new growth and the kind of change you’ve been dreaming about. You have to understand that the force that’s holding up your progress is your own inner resistance. The planetary alignments this week promise to establish in you a new kind of drive that will help you to move past your resistance to the point where it no longer holds any power over you. Speak your Truth while your ruler, Pluto, joins the Moon for the eclipse this weekend.
You won’t be able to hold back, so don’t try.

The Deep
From Claire Nouvian’s book, The Deep
In the oceans, living space has both vertical and horizontal dimensions: with an average depth of 3800 meters, the oceans offer 99% of the space on Earth where life can develop. And the deep sea, which has been immersed in total darkness since the dawn of time, occupies 85% of ocean space, forming the planet’s largest habitat. The deep sea is mostly uncharted; only about 5% of the sea floor has been mapped with any reasonable degree of detail and we know very little about the creatures that call it home. Current estimates about the number of species yet to be found vary between 10-30 million. The deep sea no longer has anything to prove; it is without doubt Earth’s largest reservoir of life.

Suri Portraits
From the series Suri Portraits
Suri is the name of a semi-nomadic people who live in a mountainous region of Ethiopia next to the Sudan border, and across the border in Sudan. Their homeland is remote, located in desolate mountains, and traditional rivalries with their tribal neighbors have become quite bloody as automatic firearms have become available from the parties in the Sudanese Civil War. Their children are sometimes decorated with white clay paint and other colored pigments, which may be dotted on the face or body, the body art is asthetic expression and olso attracting the opposite sex.

The known road may seem like the safer road, but it is riddled with the tired and the mundane. What is known is not necessarily safe because we can get careless and lazy on that predictable path. Life is offering you some exciting alternatives that may feel highly unpredictable but there is a strange underlying certainty coupled with a stability that cannot be explained. Your Soul is craving this next turn. It needs to experience some new and different landscapes. A New Moon in Gemini activates your house of the Soul which ignites volumes of new messages from down deep. Whatever is rising up from your psyche, do pay attention and read the writing on the wall. There are words of encouragement surfacing.
Heed the call, take that leap and don’t look back.

ROCKERS! UPDATE
coyote
From the series: Shadow Lives USA
Migrants slip into the Rio Grande on their way to the USA. Pedro Mendoza, lower right corner, lives in Reynosa and has worked as a low level coyote (people who cross migrants into the States). He had passed more than 20 people at one time and sometimes had to save people who were drowning in the river or the cannals that migrants must pass over in that stretch of the border.

City of Missing Women
From the series Juarez, City of Missing Women
There is a saying in the area that, if you want to find Juarez, located just across the border from El Paso, Texas, just follow the crosses. And there are a lot of them. Over 400 women (Amnesty International and Mexican government differ in numbers) have been murdered in Juarez since 1993, and hundreds more women have disappeared. Most of them fit a similar profile — young women who came from other parts of the country to work in the maquiladoras, the factories on the border that take advantage of Mexico’s cheap labor to produce goods for U.S. and international companies. Many of the women disappeared on their way to or from work, perhaps while waiting for the buses that take them between the maquiladoras and the shantytowns on the outskirts of town in the late-night or predawn hours.

Bingham Canyon Mine
Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah, the world’s biggest manmade pit.
This mammoth mine measures 4 km wide and drops a stomach-churning 1.2 km into the ground, the result of extraction begun in 1863. The ore-inspiring fruits of its labour include more than 17 million tonnes of copper and 715 tonnes of gold – a mental load of metal.
Now it employs 1,400 people and 50,000 tonnes of material are removed from it each day. What’s more, this giant earth scar and National Historic Landmark is growing – and will continue to until at least 2013.

child soldiers
On child soldiers …
An increasing number of children are involved in armed conflicts with great physical and psychological implications. Africa has the highest number of child soldiers. However, UNICEF has also found an alarming number of child soldiers in the East Asia-Pacific Region. They also discovered that Burma (Myanmar) has more children soldiers than any other country in the world. It is estimated that there are 70,000 children in the Burmese state army alone, in addition to the 7,000 children fighters in opposition armed groups. +
Children involved in armed conflict are frequently killed or injured during combat or while carrying out other tasks. They are forced to engage in hazardous activities such as laying mines or explosives, as well as using weapons. Punishments for mistakes or desertion are often very severe. Girl soldiers are particularly at risk of rape, sexual harassment and abuse as well as being involved in combat and other tasks. +

Scorpio horoscope
With Mars moving into your house of friends and group connections, your support system is a major source of self realization this week. Mars is very active, opposing Neptune and Chiron, who in turn are busily expanding your consciousness around your core issues. All of this is made even more significant by Mercury’s entry into Gemini and your house of intimate connection, because Mercury will form a T-square with the planets already mentioned before the week is out. You’ve got some inner searching to do, and it’s imperative that you don’t’ get caught up in fear and doubt at this late date. You’ve learned to rise above the gravitational pull of your lower self. It’s definitely time to choose the high road. The New Moon on Saturday is like the ultimate fork in the road. High road, low road.
Which way are you headed?
