there are times, when you'll need someone
I will be by your side
I'll take my chances before they pass, pass me by
oh darlin, there is a light that shines, special for you and me
you need to look at the other side
you'll agree
Toni Stone
Toni Stone is one hell of a woman. She’s also one of the best baseball players you’ve never heard of. Since women’s leagues refused her eligibility due to the color of her skin, Stone ended up playing alongside men in the Negro League. She became the first woman to play professionally in the league against big-shots like Ernie Banks, Willie Mays, Buck O’Neil, and Satchel Paige. Today she’s often referred to as ‘the female Jackie Robinson’.

Me'Shell NdegéOcello - Virgo
Yo te he nombrado reina.
over and over again...

PORTISHEAD It could be sweet
I don't want to hurt you
For no reason have I but fear
And I ain't guilty of the crimes you accuse me of
But I'm guilty of fear
Togo
Togo is a narrow country sandwiched between the West African nations of Ghana and Benin. It was afflicted by the slave trade. The population fled inland. Today, some of their descendents sell fish beside the shore of a vast lake while making their homes on an island where their forebears hide from slavers.

Anton Chekhov
in your books I have drunk fragrant wine, I have sung songs, I have hunted stags and wild boars in the forests, have loved women … Beauties as ethereal as clouds, created by the magic of your poets and geniuses, have visited me at night, and have whispered in my ears wonderful tales that have set my brain in a whirl. In your books I have climbed to the peaks of Elburz and Mont Blanc, and from there I have seen the sun rise and have watched it at evening flood the sky, the ocean, and the mountain-tops with gold and crimson. I have watched from there the lightning flashing over my head and cleaving the storm-clouds. I have seen green forests, fields, rivers, lakes, towns. I have heard the singing of the sirens, and the strains of the shepherds’ pipes; I have touched the wings of comely devils who flew down to converse with me of God … In your books I have flung myself into the bottomless pit, performed miracles, slain, burned towns, preached new religions, conquered whole kingdoms…” — Anton Chekhov, The Bet

Haiku
Silence. crystals. cornbread
and greens laughter. brocades.
The sea. Beethoven. Coltrane.
Spring and winter. blue rivers.
Dreadlocks. blues. a waterfall.
Empty mountains. bamboo. bodegas.
Ancient generals. dreams. lamps.
Sarah Vaughn. Her voice exploding
in the universe, returning to earth
in prayer. Plum blossoms.
Silk and steel. Cante jondo
Wine. hills. flesh. perfume.
A breath inhaled and held.
Silence.

You may hear something this week that has you reacting all over the place and ready to give someone a piece of your mind. Yet if you can step outside of the situation and find an objective glance while practicing some detachment and discrimination, you will find that all is not what you heard or feared. There is a way through and a far better way to the other side. It may also be that something is changing and it first appears to be a sudden misfortune. If that is the case, know that it is only making room for a giant breakthrough. Remove any potential blinders and then prepare to receive some invaluable direction.
It will prove to be a better week than you think

Korowai
The Koroway (Korowai), from Indonesia’s easternmost region of Papua, who until the ’70s were unaware of the existence of any people besides themselves, have become the first tribe to be officially recognized as tree-dwellers. Their wooden homes are often as high as 164ft and are built at different heights depending on how well they get on with their fellow tribe members
The Yamal Peninsula
The Yamal Peninsula is one of the world’s largest wildernesses where the indigenous Nenets people have migrated across for the past 1000 years. It is here that traditional large-scale nomadic reindeer husbandry is preserved. The Yamal Peninsula also holds Russia’s biggest natural gas reserves. The Nenets have a shamanistic and animistic belief system which foments respect for the land and its resources. Nenet families live on the tundra in reindeer-skin tents.

There is an area of your life that you have poured your whole Soul into and because of the value and attention you have given it, you have worried about whether or not it would be sustained, or if one day all would change or even vanish. You are worrying more than usual about it this week and this is because you are now so keenly aware of its ultimate meaning in your life. The New Moon Eclipse in fellow water sign Cancer on Sunday, July 11 inspires you more than ever giving you the vision of where this is all headed. Venus, the planet of blessings makes a secure angle to your ruler Pluto which feeds the needed validation you were seeking. Avoid obsessing about the details of the past and focus now on the desired vision for your future. Your thoughts can move you forward or hold you back as Mercury connects with precision to Jupiter and Uranus.
Make it work for you. The sky is sincerely on your side.
Make it work for you. The sky is sincerely on your side.

Favela on Blast
On July 20th the film will be available digitally and on DVD through Mad Decent. Fans will get an early chance to preview the film when it airs on Pitchfork TV's 'One Week Only' starting July 9th.
Favela on Blast, the directorial film debut from Grammy-nominated DJ and producer, Diplo, and his partner Leandro HBL, documents a vibrant and innovative musical subculture that has emerged in Brazil's impoverished slums, known as favelas. Well beneath the radar of mainstream society for the last 20 years, they have their own language, style and heroes. Their music and culture have gone mostly unnoticed outside of South America until now. Favela on Blast captures the rarely seen stories of MC's, DJ's, dancers, and cultural producers through the eyes of Diplo and Brazilian filmmaker Leandro HBL, with memorable appearances from funk superstars Deize, Tigrona, Mr. Catra, and Duda Do Borell.
Favela on Blast documents the culture surrounding "Funk Carioca," a musical rhythm that mixes the American electronic funk of the 1980's with the most diverse influences of Brazilian music. It is one of the most interesting musical movements in the world and it comes from one of the most violent and poorest places too: the slums of Rio de Janeiro. Bombastic rhythms coming from the Miami Bass and loops and samples are united to powerful rap vocals using Brazilian slang. This music is designed to be listened to as loud as possible and with high bass pumping through the tropical nights of Rio. The heroes are the creators- the musicians. Their pace is set between colossal street parties; propped with rudimentary sound-systems, warring drug factions, and an eerily tense city where the Police and societies elite have the upper hand until it comes to their musical culture, always Brazil's heart and nation's identity.

There’s no telling where a 9th house total solar eclipse will take you, so take a closer look at where you’ve been heading this past week and realize you’re inside a passage that’s designed to get you where you most want to go. Even if it doesn’t look like anyplace you were thinking about, you have to trust that the powers that be (aka your higher Self) are moving you to the most suitable position you can possibly be in. Uranus goes retrograde on Monday and your work situation can take a turn. You may be wondering how that can be so, since that whole area of your life is brand new. Shifts happen to help you get on track, and this is a course correction, brought on by the part of you that knows your heart’s desires.
Go where you dream takes you.
Go where you dream takes you.
