LANGSTON HUGHES

LANGSTON HUGHES, poet, b.Feb. 1, 1902 - d.1967
(Photo of Langston on a Harlem street, 1958 - by Rob W. Kelley, LIFE)

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
