i want this sooo bad!


The book, published by Duke University Press and due out Oct. 15, 2010, includes The Bronx is Next (1968), Sister Son/ji (1969) and Sanchez's never-before-published dramas, I'm Black When I'm Singing, I'm Blue When I Ain't and 2X2. Like her poetry, the plays examine the racism and sexism she experienced as a young writer during the Black Power movement. The book also includes three essays in which Sanchez reflects on her art and her lifetime of social activism.

The suburb of Agbogbloshie in Ghana’s capital Accra, has in recent years become a dumping ground for computers and electronic waste fro Europe and the US. Hundreds of tons of e-waste end up here every month as countries in the West attempt to unload their ever increasing stopiles of toxic junk. Of the 20 to 50 million tons of electronics discarded each year 70% will end up in poor nations, and in the EU alone 6.6 million tons of e-waste are unaccounted for every year.

The Chimneys of Hell Are In Russia


This is Cherepovets. And those are not nuclear weapons exploding in the horizon, but massive smoke columns from the factories that saturate this Russian city, one of the most polluted in the world. And I thought LA’s smog was bad. The name of the city—located near the Sheksna River—basically means city of skulls. Looking at the sky, it seems like a perfect a name to me.
