Richard Barnes
Instead, the image we encounter is overwhelming. "The detritus of our lives," Barnes explains, things like "Christmas tinsel, hair, dental floss, etc., become the building materials for birds."
The photographs, though, are about a lot more than litter and improperly handled trash. Like museum curators, the birds have selected artifacts from the culture of their neighbors and, while not guided by conscious decisions, have nevertheless put them on display.
